AL-KAWTHAR (THE BLESSED) DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION - ALDO
is a National, charitable and non-profit making, socio-economic development and Non-Governmental Organization with experienced management and leadership in Community development, project planning, resources mobilization and protection, well established structures of governance to meet the demand and dynamic of environment, nature and human desires.
ALDO
Is a legitimate and lawfully registered with the NGOs Coordination Board of Kenya under the newly Promulgated Constitution on 27th August 2010, Registration Certificate number Op.218/051/13-025/8855, Dated 23th May 2013 with mandates to carry out its activities, projects and programs in line with the new laws.
It is a multitask organization with the aim of improving the needy and common man livelihoods within the urban-slums and informal settlement, rural, arid and semi-arid, minority group, marginalized groups and regions and diverse multi-ethnic communities of Kenya.
ALDO operation areas are six Counties :Namely
- Kajiado
- Isiolo
- Samburu
- Garisa
- Nairobi
- Marsabit
The organization came into existence in 2011 when the members saw the need of assisting people in Slums, Arid and Semi-arid areas in terms of Empowerment, Peace building & Conflict management, Poverty alleviation, Food security, through quality water provision, Civic Education and schools
Classrooms construction and renovation which will enhance and improve the lives of the people. The organization with its development projects will provide enough quality water for domestic use and Greenhouses Commercial farming. Education for empowering the needy and vulnerable in the
society. Upon realizing its objectives in the parent Counties, the organization will expand its activities to other Counties in Kenya till it Cover all the 47 Counties. The six Counties shares similar problems/Challenges in terms of Unemployment, Quality water inadequacy, Ethnic conflict,
Persistent draught, Poverty, Outdated Culture practice, and illiteracy. The Counties experience constants conflicts and terrorist attacks. Shortage or lack of water for domestic consumption and livestock. Illiteracy is the order of the day due to lack of enough modern learning facilities, lack enough teachers and up to date learning facilities are scarsed. These also undermined the confidence
and trust of the young generation/youth for their leaders, because they feel helpless.
The groups of people living within these Counties are Nomadic pastoralist communities. Nomadic pastoralism is commonly practiced in regions with little arable land, typically in the developing world. Of the estimated 30–40 million nomadic pastoralists worldwide, most are found in central
Asia and the Sahel region of West Africa and East Africa including Kenya. Increasing numbers of stock may lead to overgrazing of the area and desertification if lands are not allowed to fully recover between one grazing period and the next. Increase enclosure and fencing of land has reduced the amount of land available for this practice. In Kenya this target group lives in arid and semi-arid
regions hence lack enough water for domestic and livestock use. There is high illiteracy level among this group because most of them drop out of school due to their movement from place to place in search of water and pastures for their livestock.

In order to enhance and address these issues and other common recurring problems and challenges in Kenya and the world at large, ALDO has initiated to develop and came up with strategic plan for effective and efficient implementation of her projects/activities to achieve her objectives in line with government vision 2030.
